My tc also was quiet at startup when it was cold outside. Your mentioning of it reminded me. (not many very cold mornings here in FL)

But I do remember that happening a few times
LOL

yeah, something is wrong
Mine was only quiet a couple of times on VERY cold mornings. 15 degrees on up made no difference

What about a stock 6.0 TC, or does that not fit a 99.

Not even going to work with any 4R100 trans unless you have some sort of adapter plate in between, AFAIK.

6.0 tc will bolt in. There is a spacer that you ned to buy, or have your existing spacer turned down, but I forget how much. There is a thread about this swap if you do a search.
Might be worth the trouble. Im gonna look into it.

It isn't dumb to ask the question. It is dumb to buy the product and then try figure out if you can make it work so it's all good.

That's the post I was looking for. I remember reading that a while back. That post is the reason I brought it up.
Thanks.

MY E 99 HAD 144000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANS FINELY WENT OUT. i HAD NO IDEA
AND HAD NO TROUBLE. I THOUGHT I'D JUST PUT IN MY TWO CENTS. I WOULD DO THE HOLE THING AT YOUR MILEAGE OTHER WISE YOU MIT BE PAYING TWICE FOR THAT TC. I USED A JOHN WOODS AND PUT IN THE 6.0 TC AND RAN IT THUR THE RADIATOR. ITS GREAT. MINE IS A CC DRW LB 4X4. I CHANGED MY TRANS EVERY 30 TO 40 THOUSAND MILES. I BOUGHT IT IN 9-98 NEW.

what signs presented that said the tranny was shot? Did it start slipping, or didn't work in a certain gear or what?
Thanks

My only problem with rebuilding the whole tranny, if the tranny is working fine, is that I have seen several that have gone 200K+
