6.0 tc will bolt in. There is a spacer that you ned to buy, or have your existing spacer turned down, but I forget how much. There is a thread about this swap if you do a search.

AND HAD NO TROUBLE. I THOUGHT I'D JUST PUT IN MY TWO CENTS. I WOULD DO THE HOLE THING AT YOUR MILEAGE OTHER WISE YOU MIT BE PAYING TWICE FOR THAT TC. I USED A JOHN WOODS AND PUT IN THE 6.0 TC AND RAN IT THUR THE RADIATOR. ITS GREAT. MINE IS A CC DRW LB 4X4. I CHANGED MY TRANS EVERY 30 TO 40 THOUSAND MILES. I BOUGHT IT IN 9-98 NEW.

what signs presented that said the tranny was shot? Did it start slipping, or didn't work in a certain gear or what?

My only problem with rebuilding the whole tranny, if the tranny is working fine, is that I have seen several that have gone 200K+
