460 cam

I just installed a Summit Racing cam in my 460 the cam has a 204/214 duration @ .05 479/504 lift and 112 deg lobe separation the timing set is a new OE replacement. Is it normal to have to run timing at 25 deg BTDC at Idle with the VA disconnected, that is wear it seems to run the best.

No, it's not normal. It should be around 8-12 BTDC at idle. At full advance it should be around 32-36 deg. I would expect to hear detonation with that much timing. Does it perform well driving it normally? If it runs perfect, then maybe your timing marks are off. Just my .02. Dave
