so I think I got the oil cooler fixed but I can't really tell since I CAN'T get the walrus started. I've charged the batts, and when I turn the key the gp controller just ticks and won't stop. I'm going to check the plugs when I get home today, anybody have any other ideas/suggestions.

Certainly sounds like the GPs are burned up...........what brand are they.

Only use Beru Motorcraft ZD9 in the 7.3....... get them online or at Rock Auto or a supporting Ford dealer about $10 each..

Check your controller grounds and all connections for corrosion. It works by reading the plug resistance and it doesn't take a lot of wire resistance to make it act weird.

checked the plugs, the controller, the fuel system(filter, schrader valve, ip) and cannot figure it out. It isn't ticking like a mad bomber any more, but just turns over and doesn't fire up. could it be a bad solenoid on top of the starter?I know that solenoid is loose but I don't know if that will keep it from starting. I just don't know enough to figure it out.

The starter solenoid will not keep it from starting except for if it is loose the motor usually will not spin fast enough.

sorry, I wasn't clear, the solenoid itself isn't loose, the plastic thingy where all the connections are is kinda wiggly(that's tech talk) and when I crank it, it doesn't spin fast enough to start. If it's not that then what else should I be looking at?

Check the voltage on the batts, and when cranking, corroded connectors, dirty inside of battery connections, ummm...

Duh if the plastic thingy is loose, it will likely never turn over fast enough to start.
