I have a 01 X with 5" lift and 315/70/17 brand new tires.
I have recently developed a vibration that starts when I take my foot off the gas at higher speeds(highway speeds). It also does it occassionally at lower speeds, but is much more pronounced at highway speeds. The vibration was noticed PRIOR to putting on the new tires, and has continued (unchanged) after the new tires
I took the rear driveshaft out and drove the truck in front wheel drive mode, and the vibration was gone. Truck has 115000 original miles on the original driveline...........
Question is:
Do I start looking in the rear end, or start by replacing U-joints?- ANY other suggestions are welcome as well-
I did grease the slip yoke already
Thanks

I had this with a car I once had. It was a U-joint.
I also saw a video of a 4X with a lift. The owner had a vibration. They lifted in off the ground and videoed the underside of the truck as it was running. The vibration was coming from the driveshaft mid-span carrier unit. It was replaced, and I believe the angle was adjusted better for the lift. The bearing in this unit was shot.
I suspect though, if I had to choose, that it is a U-joint.
1 new slip joint, 3 new U joints, lengthened the tube 1.5" and the truck rides like new again!! Slip joint appeared to be the main contributing factor......

Parts were somewhere in the neighborhood of $230.00 if I remember correctly. The guy who did mine gave me a break on labor-
I walked out the door spending $350
