trany vibrates
If you want to do a fluid change, drop the pan and take a look at any particles in it. Nothing should be larger than maybe a pepper flake and there should not be enough to fill a teaspoon. You might possibly have a few(2 or 3) small(rice size) pieces of metal, probably nothing to worry about. If you have big chunks or lots of them then the damage is probably already done. If just small bits, maybe draining will do the trick. Try to drain the torque converter also. Smell the fluid, burned smell is bad. Fluid should be red or maybe pink. Brown or black is bad.
A flush might force any bits stuck in any valves to come out so this might work too but you won't have the advantage of seeing what's in the pan.
Depending on the cause of the shudder, you might get lucky. I was not lucky since my fluid had overheated(brown) and cooked some seals. So the rebuild for my E4OD to tow was about $2500.
Good Luck,
Jim Henderson
