Existing throttle linkage
I have a '79 F150 with a 460. I've installed a hi-rise weiand Stealth manifold which raises the carb about 3" over the stock location. I'd like to use the original pedal assembly which is a bar lever all the way up to a solid rod to the carb. With the new height, the angle is all wrong as well as the pedal travel distance. If I lengthen the the pedal bar then travel at the top increases from about 4" to about 6"-7".
I could go to a cable setup but then I have a huge hole in the firewall to deal with...and the angle on the firewall at the pedal mount will be difficult to adapt to...
Anyone have any ideas?
My '79 is a completely different setup, but I faced a similar hassle when trying to mount a 4-barrel to my straight 6. I ended up using a Lokar cable and designing my own brackets. There are pictures in my gallery of the setup. Not the same thing you're doing at all, but it can give you some ideas as to how to approach the problem.
