Steering box or power steering pump?

Ive been having the hard steering when stopped problem and after doing some reading I have read that replacing the pump and/or steering box is the fix. First off, the fluid level is good but it looks like my steering box is leaking a little, not dripping at a parking spot but has a bead oil fluid on the bottom of it. The pump visually looks pretty good but it does have a very very small leak as well. Knowing that both leak you might say just to replace both but money is limited and i was hoping that someone might be able to hint to me on which to replace to fix the problem.

I have a 2001 F-250 SD 5.4L 4x4

Thanks a lot,
Buddy

try flushing and refilling with Synth fluid..

that seems to help most people with hard steering effect.

p.s. also make sure your steering stablizer isnt ceased or bent.

there are machines to properly flush the system..

alot of those no appointment oil change places do it..

brand doesnt really matter, just ask for full synthetic power steering fluid when you go in..

make sure they know in advance, and expect to pay more cuz Synth, isnt cheap but its worth it if you ask me.
