Towing capabilities
Hi all...new here so be gentle. I just recently bought my first Ford. It is 1995 4.0 Ranger XLT 4X4. I was wondering if I would be able to pull a camper with it. It is a 26ft camper.

I suspect that is too much trailer for your Ranger. Look in the owners manual and it will give you the trailer tow capability based on axle ratio, engine, transmission and cab style. I pull a 20 ft wildwood that weighs 4800 pounds with my Expedition and it works good. The most I ever pulled with a 93 S/C 4x4 M/T 4.0L was 4000 and it was great on the level, but starting on a grade or driving up some big hills on the highway was not at regular highway speed. Basic rule of thumb is never pull anything heavier than your pulling truck unless it is set up specifically for towing heavy loads, like an F250.

The weight of the trailer, frontal area, gear ratio and if you have a manual or auto make a lot of difference. I'm thinking just on the limited info that you are going to be way over the limit. I know I have that info squirrled away but you can always just look in Google for the towing limits, that usually works for me.
