It's all plastic gears in the motor...I have an 2001 350 psd 7.3 308,000mi..
about 2 yrs ago passenger door lock would not actuate all the time with the others.
researched many sites found write up on how to remove door lock motor and take apart
there is a thermal resistor that breaks down it is suspossed to keek from burning up the
motor if the switch is held down too long. the fix is to remove the resistor and wrap in tinfoil and reinsert as it just slips in a slot between two contacts. I ended up reworking all4 doors in about a year all have been working fine for the last year or so. I printed the
instructions now to find what i did with them, will try to find and post. Larry

door locks
CAIN64 do a search "Power Door Locks FIXED!!!! " you will probably find all the info you need. This guy has the same info i was hunting. I took a small drill and drilled the plastic from the back side there are small holes where the plastic rivits are and i went to lowes and got some small screws and used them to reassemble the halves. also took a bobby/ hair pin the small round ones to insert through the two holes in the part of the motor you remove to hold the brushes out wheen you reassemble the motor to keep from bending the brushes.
