injector cleaning

alright i desided to work on my truck sense i cant seam to sell it...

i planned on pulling all 8 out, suspending them over cups and runnning the motor.
A- this shows me all injectors r working and
B- i leave em out till they flow so i can see when all the air is outta the system

now when i pulled them, all of them had a funky silver recidue at the top of the threads, and like 1 or 2 were a slight blackish color..

but the furthes on near the driver was covered in black, this could be either a clogged injector or a blown oil ring on that piston.. is this correct, wut is the best way in going about cleaning the injectors? and while i was at this i decided to pull my glowplugs, they look good but my lil switch isnt working anymore how can i go about checking the glow plugs?

take a look at the 8. notice the bottom right injector, its cover in wut seams to be oil

The silver stuff is probably antiseize. The black on the injector is probably soot from unburned fuel. I'm not sure how you intend to hook up the injectors with them outside of the engine. You really don't want to bend the lines. You will ruin them & they are really TOUGH. You can check the GPs by connecting the to a 10amp battery charger if you have one, otherwise, you can use jumper cables to power them up with your battery. You will know if they work. They should heat up in a few seconds to red hot (maybe 10 seconds). BE CAREFUL, THEY WILL GET HOT!

Marianna has it right DON't bend those lines they aren,t cheap and even if you could hook them up and spin the motor, you would have yo unhook them to reinstall them again.

So get some antisize and coat the threads again and reinstall them with the new copper washers that came in the return line kit. get your new orings and returnlines on and we will help you get it cranked. it is not hard to get the air out of it.
