So today I visited the bodyshop/prison where my F3 parts have been incarcerated for the last two years. I brought home the left front fender which he finished, and the glove box cover. So now I have all the pieces done except the bed.
Here is a photo taken this morning of the cab/chassis, and also a picture of the mock-assembled bed that is still at the bodyshop. It is ready for paint except he still has to weld shut the upper tailgate chain links. He says he will finish it 'next week'. I won't hold my breath. My little unheated garage is too full of stuff to do anything on the truck anyway till spring comes, but I was encouraged that he finished the rear fenders and tailgate.
Bill (49Willard) I can't wait to install that lower valance you found for me at the Hershey swap meet. I now have two green front fenders to attach to it.

Now before any of you wiseguys make a comment about the mower deck under the truck, yes I am going to attach it to the truck via the T-98 PTO and mow lawns this summer to pay down the bodyshop bill!
Tom

Tom, well I guess I'm a wise guy or a smart Alek, but you took the wind out of my sails as I was conjuring up something about your rare optional Ford belly mower deck until I read your last line.

New guy here. 1956 Custom Cab built in Dallas, I adopted it from Amarillo in 2018.
It had a Flat Out Engineering front and rear suspension and I swapped in a foxbody 5.0 and AOD. Runs pretty decent for a tired motor. Yes those are BMW wheels!

Hey Echo,
I like the stance on your truck... nice. We'll keep an eye out for you when we are
up in Dallas. Our '50 F1 has the same engine/trans combination …. we upped the engine
a bit with a 400hp Edelbrock top end kit. I like your casual exterior a lot.

Looking good up there in Dallas.

Hi Ben!

Sorry for the confusion, in was only built in Dallas in 1956 - but last year I resurrected it in Los Angeles, where I live.
I'd love to get this engine rebuilt with a top end kit someday! If I do, I'll be sure to make a thread of it I like the patina look and it's authentic for sure. She's no show truck, but it's nice not worrying about paint scratches and dents too... I used my truck to pick up a Christmas tree and a washer + dryer. Although someday I think I will eventually do a full restoration (resto-mod).

-Echo

@56panelford thank you very much!

I haven't touched my truck in about 3 months. I stopped and looked at it yesterday, look at all the stuff stacked around it & on the back frame. Its amazing how fast the stuff piles up.
the boxes on the back are full of parts waiting to be installed. Soon

Ha ha....Cheaper by the case at Costco...….The wife uses it in the laundry, and since we don't have a laundry room, only a laundry closet. There is no room to store it in there.

I understand the storage of parts on the back thing...at certain times in the build i did the same. Even put a couple boards back there to hold small bags of bolts, parts.

notice the rags on the running board mounts? I have allot of bruises on my shins from them, before i wrapped them....

You guys need a flatbed. Stuff piles on them fast. Great workbench as well
I’m in the middle of king pin replacement. Spindles are on a box ready to go to the machine shop. I’m going to pull the steering box and get that rebuilt. Gotta be ready for some long trips this summer.
