The irony is that 1953 Ford put a 3 pointed star on the frille of 6 cylinders as opposed to the V8 emblem for the 8 cylinders. In 1954 and 55 the 6 cylinders wore a 4 pointed star. Some Ford truck historians say it is because Mercedes Benz threatened Ford with a lawsuit for the similarities of the Ford star and the Mercedes logo.

We had freezing rain in central PA today. My son's friend took this picture of my 55 in front of our house today as he sat in his car across the street. I thought it turned out pretty nice. My 55 is going into storage next week.

Got the doors back on & reprimed.

Interior is finally painted. I actually painted the interior twice. The first attempt had a lot of orange peel. So I started to color sand with 1500 grit and sanded thru in several spots. I got very frustrated and said screw it I'll have to repaint it. It turned out better the 2nd time, still some orange peel and I'm afraid to color sand again.

I think I'm just going to use rubbing compound & polish & call it done. I have to keep telling myself that its not going to be a show truck, just a driver.

Thanks Cobra and Ken. There is nothing in this pic that gives away the time period, except maybe the reflective tape the PO put on the bed.

It's a nice picture....you can almost imagine the kids walking to school carrying books as they go past the truck.
" Hey Flick! That truck has reflective tape on it!"

Afv100 dont put top coat on so thick, usually the issue (or any coat). Thin and many. Put some clear on it, then sand the orange peal off, recoat with clear. Dont burn through the clear while sanding. Use 1500 on a DA sander. Wont take so much off.

Then Schwartz says, "What's reflective tape?"

Thanks for the advice......but this old puppy is done with painting !! Actually I'm not quite done, still have the bed & hood to prime. I'm not painting the outside, its going to stay in primer.
Maybe get it painted when I have more $.

The previous owner had a camper on it, and cut those holes for storage. I just call it A/C for my bed.
