Here's my truck, courtesy of 51PanelMans recent photo (the only difference between this photo and today is that it's parked across the street right now... I have to move it for street sweeping):

Sorry for the big picture, I couldn't get it to shrink for whatever reason. My Dad, who drove model A's for about 25 years, was up last weekend and taught me how to downshift on my non-synchroed transmission... I've been trying it out on the road and have been mostly successful. At this rate, I may not even bother trying to switch transmissions.

From the days when syncro's were very rare - "Hey grind me a pound while you're at it" and "Hey that's OK, they'll make them out of rubber next year"

I was in your neighborhood again today. Matter of fact, I had an inspection on the same street as yours and didn't see your truck parked anywhere. Maybe I missed it while driving through.

Technically, I fiibbed, as it parked up the hill a street over... didn't think the details would matter, but I forgot that you drive through regularly. It will be back down on my block tomorrow though, as I'm in a Friday spot now (and must move it tonight or tomorrow morning to avoid the dreaded DPT parking rule enforcement brigade and our recently upped fines - $65 ticket - gotta cover the $500,000,000 budget deficit somehow, but at least they won't be getting any more of my money if I can help it).

It's all in the details, my friend.

I've talked my way out of a few DPT tickets. Can you believe that they'll (attempt to) ticket even when there's a person in the car? Happened to me a few times.

Yes, I can believe it.... it's happened to my wife. I do my best to avoid their tickets while not feeding meters, double parking or otherwise parking illegally. The double parking and parking illegally are just things you have to do in a crowded city for short-term trips. The not feeding meters is my small form of protest against the ridiculously corrupt folks that run this place.... it's the game we play, they try and take as much of money as they can and I try and give them as little of my money as possible.
