The fuel pumps right there. Try and clean it up and see put a little mirror down there and see if you can see where its coming from. Seems like a lot of people changing pumps lately.
Can the pump be removed with the turbo and fuel bowl still in the truck and is there any special tools needed or is there anything else i should worry about

It helps if you have hands like a raccoon and an additional wrist on your left arm, other than that.....piece of cake.
Just kidding
Clean the valley of death with mucho paper towels then get a bright flash light and a good mirror and find where the leak is. Check around the base of the pump, there is a weep hole that will indicate that the pump has taken a dump.
Regular hand tools will get the job done. Plan on replacing the three blue fuel hoses while your in there. Pick them up at the stealership.
Remove the mounting bolts then rotate the engine by hand. The pump is actuated by a push rod from the bottom of the pump and rides on a cam lobe. When the pump rises, slip your fingers beneath the pump and put pressure on the rod as you lift the pump STRAIGHT up, pump and rod will be removed together. An 1 1/4" wrench will get the banjo bolt at the back of the pump. Don't loose the two (2) copper washers that fit on either side of he banjo bolt.
