Hey everyone, I need an estimate on what a '68FE 428/C6 combo presently in a Coutry Squire station wagon is worth. Ran and drove to current location, but has not been touched in ten years. It burnt oil on its final voyage home. Any guesses? Also what is the potential for this engine. Have a lcoal fellow interested in it, but if its a diamond in the rough keeping it might be an option. What are the thoughts of the educated public surfing this page.

Are you positive with absolutely no doubt that it is a 428? Has it ever been bored? A complete CJ or SCJ engine will bring in a good buck but a plain jane 428 really only has value in parts. Its not a matter of power potential but the CJ letters mean money to people who are trying to restore an original car with a CJ. The crank can go for 300 - 500 bucks. The block can go for up to 800+ bucks if it has the original bore. The heads are nothing special over 390 heads. In poor running condition I would say $1500 for the entire thing. I would pay a grand for it if I felt the need to have one.
I don't believe that the engine has been altered in any way. Its in an old waggy, so chances of it being a CJ or SCJ are slimmer than Tyra Banks, but not impossible. It's just a slobering old waggy with a 428 and a C-6 tranny, that my father bought for a spare big block for the farm truck. Another q is, are the dollar figures you give in the previous Canadian or real money (American)?

428, running, standard bore with the trans and all the bits and pieces people like me spend years collecting is easily worth 1000.00 in US dollars. Where you at?
