We have one particular unit (ambulance) '06 E350, which got a full new engine last year at 60K, that will suddenly stall, even when running. It will re-start like nothing happened. There is no DTC's and it runs fine otherwise. We replaced the key cylinder and switch as we noticed some burn marks on the switch but it did not change anything. The hotline is telling us to check STC fitting, ICP and IPR sensors, otherwise install an new engine harness. Any other ideas ? Thanks !
This would be one of those "You have to be here" situations. It does not sound mechanically related or sensor related such as the ICP from your post. You would have to monitor all inputs and when the engine up and dies, do not move the ignition key, check for voltage. Problem is an IV bag is not a good tool to check for engine related situations since you are not a mechanic and your mechanic is not a paramedic who needs his unit in dire situations. The new engine install has plenty of areas to pinch wiring causing problems in the future.
