possible re gear

I have a 1988 f250 HD. I think the truck has a dana 50 TTB front and probley a sterling 10.25 rear. sound correct? what was the gear ratio stock. 3.73? 3.55? Anyway im now running 35's and probley going bigger, needless to say i lost a lot of my acceleration and i was considering re gearing it. What should i re gear it to, 4:56? Im an axel noob so any advice will help. thanks

Most common axle ratios were 3:55 and 4:10. Dana 44 was most common in standard cab F250, Dana 50 in the supercab.

High gears, big tires and the 351 is going to be pretty sluggish on the bottom end.

Ford Axle Code Chart .: Articles Get the axle code from your door sticker and use this to see what you have. It says 1991 but will work for your truck.

We can't tell you what gears to go with until you tell us how what size tires you are going with.
