1. take the caps off, its not going to get you attention any faster lol we take it as yelling over this part of the web lol

but ill go out on a limp and say your IPR orings are bad or injector seals are bad. i think both will do similar symptoms that you explained

the IPR is on the driver side under the HPOP(high pressure oil pump). the HPOP is right behind the reservior. crawl up there and in front of the fuel bowl you will see the HPOP, then look to the driver side of that and kinda under it and you will see the IPR with a 2 wire electrical connector attached to it.

does the engine take any longer to start when it's warmed up? if it does i would think the IPR o-rings are going. mine is starting to idle like that too when it's hot, but it's not the IPR o-rings. i think mine may be the injector o-rings, but not sure. mine needs a compression test done before i go further.

Mines doing it and it's the oil. I think this is going to be more and more common as the oil changes for the newer trucks even more. I'm only at 1600 or so miles since my last oil change with rotella synthetic. I'm switching to another brand now and going to see what happens.
I know the antifoam additive cure it though. All of my o rings are new and working fine.

Anything with the right classification will but good luck finding it these days. People keep saying the new ones are backwards compatible but they are not. I've done a lot of research on this and talked to a few engineers and the guys that used to work with me on these engines. Oil manufacturers just don't care much about the needs of 16 year old engines anymore. The new powerstrokes don't have the foaming problems anymore. if you have regular Rotella in it and it's under 2000 miles since changing then try the fleetright antifoam additive in it before getting into the engine. See what happens. It was like night and day when I put it in mine this time.

It's supposed to be. At least it was but the amount of antifoam agent in it has changed since the oils were all reformulated for engines with a DPF and EGR systems. A lot has changed with oils in the last couple years and I have really noticed it with my three trucks and the more than a dozen that I work on for customers. They all keep having driveability problems around 2500-3000 miles and when I change the oil, problem goes away.
Mine is probably starting it earlier this time becasue I had to silicone up a huge crack in my oil pan. I used the gray ford silicone that is supposed to be safe but the problems started within a hundred miles after I did it.
I know I didn't get any silicone inside the pan. It's just a patch glued on the outside.
