lol, j/k you CAN run just an MSD coil, but you would see no beneficial result without the control box.
Gotcha. So for the most part on these Duraspark systems, you can upgrade one piece at a time without problems? Coil, then control box later, etc? Sorry to hijack the thread.
Berry your ok man, if I were to really be upset bout you using the existing subject to ask the questions you need answers to, I wouldn't be getting any help.
I know first hand that the Duraspark system will be FINE with a piece by piece installation, my 77 gave me no problems, when I was talking to my friend about it and my neighbor said to change my points, yea well, I think just a new set of points will work, if I find any problems with it I'll be sure to seek you out and let you know.
and if you look at what silverstreak wrote, I never thought of it that way, but he is correct.
I wouldn't buy anything but MSD. I took a plug out and cranked the engine over and it looked and sounded like an arch welder. Never had a bit of trouble with anything in our system.

By posting this thread, I've learned one thing, it's definitely a work of preference, not surety, I'll never shun someone for being against MSD or any other aftermarket manufacturer out there, but I hope people don't shun me for choosing what I choose.

Couldn't agree more. I bought MSD originally after reading a lot about multiple systems and brands and have never had a problem with any of the stuff we bought. I do know that there are several well known brands that make products that are as good as if not better than the MSD stuff I just have never used it.

my reason behind that was more along the neighbor who owned it years ago keeps prying into what I'm doing with the truck, he listened in to me talking to my other neighbor bout my plans and he threw a fit in the middle of the street, it's sad if I'm working on my truck and some random passer by has to stop in and tell me they think he was acting childish.......whatever I guess, I'm just trying to get a parts truck, cause I am DESPERATE for parts.
Front Clip
Steering Column (With Turn Signal switch, without the column shift, my trucks a floor shift 4-spd)
hood hinges
possibly a Power Steering Pump
to list the major things.
I'm looking for a roll bar aside from the important parts.
Wants/Needs, I think we all understand what outweighs the other.
PM me if you can help, I will pay, I just don't have a lot of cash to work with.
yes its a ford pickup and dont forget purple on the dizzy does not go to the purple on the msd box !it goes to the green! the orange on the dizzy goes to the purple on the msd box!

ps they will run backwards just out of time .this is why they run the one way connectors on there stuff as ford wont let the use the wiring color codes i think
