[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Apr-02 AT 08:53 PM (EST)]Has anyone successfully installed a "real HID" kit in their expy? I have a setup that i recently removed from my eclipse and was thinking of installing it in my truck, but was not sure how the output would be. Anyone have pics or experience in this please share cause I would like to do this pretty soon, i will most likey go forward with the task anyways just wanted to see what i was getting into first. Thanks.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Apr-02 AT 09:34 PM (EST)]I have real HIDS in my truck and the Install was simple. Sylvania Xenarc Hids. They are not just bulbs, they are full assemblies. The Install couldnt be easier!!

Ill never drive without these headlights again, the performance is amazing, not to mention the looks they great!!
More pictures of the HIDS can be found @ http://www.superford.org/?vID=335
I will echo drawsoncad's sentiments. I too have the Xenarc's and wouldn't trade them for anything. I am contemplating changing my factory fog light bulbs to either match more closely to the HID's or to match my PIAA 520 fog's. Either way they'll be PIAA bulbs extreme's or Ion Crystal pricey though.
Awesome. Thanks for the help. I wonder if its possible to just get the replacement headlights because i have a HID setup already and just lack the clear lenses. BTW, your truck looks killer.
You can probably get the clear lens off an SVT Lightning. I think the newest one's have the HID type clear lens/assembly. Unfortunately, you will probably only be able to get them through FORD therefore it may not be cost effective I'd suspect a price in the $400-$500 per side. I'd get the Sylvania kit $800 and sell your existing kit on Ebay or use it for an HID foglight conversion. This kit is truly plug and play..it should take you no more than 2 to set it up. GOod Luck!

Can't put it any better than that. There is such a demand for HID lighting, if you put your old lights up on E-Bay, i'd almost guarantee an instantaneous sale. What year Eclipse is it anyway..if its 3rd Gen, i tell you where you can post it too.
Hey Draws, from what I have read about HID's, they don't have dual filaments in the bulb, so you have to use two bulbs, one for high and one for low beams. Is this true? If so, do the new headlamps use two different bulbs in this manner, or do they just replace the low beams? I know about HID, but not much about the auto applications.
You can purchase just the lamp assemblies from sylvania, at least according to their webpage.

most HID's that I have seen will have seperate bulbs for high (halogen) and low (xenon). Even my Lexus has seperate bulbs for Hi/Lo beams. As far as the Xenarcs go it's not a big deal the whole setup is included and plugs into the existing harness...not sure why you have the question or what the concern is, but I'd be curious to know since I may not have asked the question myself.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-May-02 AT 04:50 PM (EST)]Johnny pretty much answered your question, but from what i heard from a few other companies before i ordered the Xenarc was that late this year there will be HI/LO Xenon assemblies, the Halogen High will be done away with. I think they call them 2nd Generation Hid's. If i remember right, it was one of the sales rep's from Philips that told me this.
Johnny Mo, it was more of a curiosity question than anything else. I have considered replacing the headlamps on our expy with the Xenarc's, but just haven't talked the wife into it yet. You answered my question, and thanks for the information.
my wife didn't need any convincing on the HID's (surprisingly)she has had them on her Lexus for nearly 2 years and can't stand driving without them. I used the argument that I got so used to them in my Lexus and that the price was relatively cheap (compared to factory installed). Plus she's used to me doing mod's on my Lexus so it was only fitting for me to mod the truck a little bit.
