I thought sense I had the motor apart I'd paint the air intake, valve covers, fuel lines, intake hat, but I'm not painting the heads. It still has the Navistar gray color on the block so I was thinking, red, blue, lime green, or maybe even dark purple. What do you guy's think?
I have thought about painting the one in my dually cat yellow, just to see how many people I could fool with it. lol
I bought some high heat pink paint one time to paint a customers new motor with, but I knew I would have to pull it back out and repaint it so I chickened out. lol
I did paint one bare metal once. it looked just like it didn't have any paint on it and looked pretty cool'
Star, my intake lid, vacuum canister, fuel filters, and IIRC the valve covers are painted in CAT yellow
And if my friend Maria could dye her hair and also her sniper rifle, sidearm, and various other tools of her trade including parts of her Kevlar vest in bright pink (hence the nickname Pick Princess), I'm sure you could have painted that engine pink too - actually in the neighborhood where one of my good buddies lives there is a house that's painted in hot pink and dark purple, the family has two vehicles and the guy's F-series is dark purple while the girl's Jeep is hot pink, both matching the house colors...
Most of my engine is ford black, a multi-colored mix of dark brown, black and the occasional spot of dark orangy rust accumulated over years of previous owner neglect....
I did however clean up the valve covers and get them back to the original gray color. And before I slapped the turbo on this winter, it got a nice high heat silver and gave the CDR a coat of grey. It looks sweet until you get close enough to see the rest of the engine.
