C6 Rebuild Kit
I have a fairly stock 77 F150 with a 460, 2wd, no significant engine mods. The transmission is leaking, has no signs of being rebuilt in its lifetime and possibly poor maintenance.
I would like to take the opportunity to get rid of the leaks, sharpen up the shifts, and ensure longevity of the transmission - what kit should I get?
Monster-in-a-box (monster transmission) kits are the most expensive, but are full of upgrades, seems I would have a bullet proof transmission with all parts replaced and upgraded for $500. I also see kits for anywhere from $100-200 that have all the basic parts - is this a "get what you pay for" thing or is the $500 kit overpriced?
Do I need to replace the torque converter at the same time?
