door locks

99 explorer power door locks how do you get what the manual calls a rivit out it dont look like rivet so dont want to destroy it until im sure left front door

If you're looking at the correct part, it is a rivet. You either need to drill out the rivet, grind the head off, or chisel the head off. My preference to avoid distortion or damaged paint would be to drill it out.

Thanks I see that on mine its plastic with a metal center thats why i asked

What rivet are you speaking of? If its the one that holds the power lock motor bracket, I always thought you do NOT remove it.

in a 99 explorer when you open the door like you are getting in if yo look 2/3 of the way down the door you see a plastic grommit with a metal center

To repair the actuator you're going to have to take the door panel off anyway. I'd take it off before you drill out the rivit and make sure it's the one for the actuator.

We sell actuators if you need one. Just PM me if your in a bind.
