Questions About PTO....

Hi, I'm new to this site and new to the Super Duty world... I have a 2008 F-250 SCREW FX4 6.4L PSD what I am curious about is weather I have the PTO option or not, I bought the truck from the local Chevy dealer a few weeks ago and they really didn't know anything about the truck... just the basics.... the truck is equipped with tow command and up-fitter switches...I am interested in adding a PTO driven power generator but cant find any information about how to find out if I have PTO Prov or not.... also if it has PTO I'm gonna need a throttle control installed to run the generator?? Thanks

put your VIN at the end of that link to get your original window sticker. It will tell you if you have the PTO option

Very cool Thanks!!!

I printed the original window sticker and it has a few options that I didn't know it had... Like Snow Plow prep and Supplemental Cab heater!!! I also didn't know it had a 5/60k power train warranty either... the dealer told me 3/36k I guess that's what I get for buying at a Chevy dealer! LOL! but No PTO!!!

Thanks again!
Rob

I believe the Torq-shift trannies all come with provision for PTO. And of course the wiring is under the dash (behind fuse panel) to hook to your upfitters - gives you the high idle when you're running PTO driven equipment. Not sure if there's more to it, though. Any truck I've ever driven with PTO, had a switch on the dash to engage the PTO equipment to the trans. A Ford dealer could probably give you better info.

Edit: Just thinking about it, your PTO wiring won't actually hook to the up-fitters in this application.

All of the ZFs are PTO ready.

not all of the TSs are.

...it was an option on the autos, standard equipment on the sticks.
