Welcome to FTE!
Sounds as if the switch is failing.
What truck do you have?
Year, configuration and trim level along with engine and axle info please.

03 f-150 ext. cab, 4.2L V-6, 2wd. (i think that covers everything) along with the blower motor being able to run with the ignition off, the turn signals will work, and the over head outside temp gauge still has power.

friend of mine had this problem. Try spraying some wd-40 in the ign switch and putting they key in and out several times you may have a contact in the ignition switch sticking

that would make sense...since my truck AMAZINGLY enough, fixed itself. everything seems to be back to normal....for now. but ill def. give the ign. switch a splash of wd-40. thank you...i was freakin out a bit, thinking the absolute worst of what could be wrong. im def. happy i joined this forum. seems everyone is very helpful. and any bit of info i could pass along to anyone...i would be more than happy to do so.

on a different subject. my F150 has a 4.2L v6. would like to find some engine mods and get some extra ponies outta my beast...anyone have any suggestions?

My ignition switch is a bit worn, and when I pull the key out, I have to turn the switch just a little until it locks. Otherwise it'll be in the accessory position. It's not so bad it'll turn from the lock position without a key, or that the key will come out when the truck is on, but there's an area just on either side of the off position where it will release the key and it'll either be too far on or too far toward accessory.

Check yours and see if you might not have the same problem....
