Hmmmm.... a little light reading for me and it does seem you guys have a bit of history. That doesn't exactly blow my skirt up.
To the OP......I got my 5" turnouts for less than $500 (less than $400 iirc), and there are 6" miter kits on e-bay right now for less than $600 brand new. I would agree with your original assessment. If you can get them for $500 it's a deal, otherwise............
You guys with stacks ever wish you had gone with like a 4 or 5" out the back? I really like stacks, but I would hate to cut a hole and put them in place and find out they dont look good on this truck.

Since mine is a Superduty my opinion may not interest you, but I've had a 4" single and a 4" duals run out the back. For me going to the stacks was money well spent. I like the look and the sound, which is really all that matters. The performance difference between the three is negligible.
Your opinion interests me. I was asking anyone who was willing to answer. I dont have any issues with superdutys. I do like the look and sound of stacks. I mean, they hold a certain COOL factor. haha. Thats why I am leaning towards getting some.
if your looking to save a few bucks, and can weld... i bought my stacks off ebay and gathered the rest locally because i was installing inbetween tool boxes. had to be all custom to begin with, nobody makes kits in this size. may not look the best, but the sound is great!!!
Hey guys Im planning on putting stacks on my 01 F-250 once I have enough money to buy them but I still want to use my bed for everything and anything. I have seen that they sell the box that incloses the "y" and elbows but its really expensive. I was wondering what everyone else has done to protect the pipes? During the summer Ill be hauling mulch to my house, throwing logs in the bed and whatever else I have to carry.
I was thinking of doing a "y" under the bed and poping two holes in the bed and come straight out with the stack but the fuel tank is in the way. I have seen it done but its a pain.
You'd probably need a body lift to fit them under the bed...
Other than that you could use heat wrap on the in-bed parts, or look into the stack covers and cover up all the in-bed parts. They have some pretty sweet diamond plate ones, not cheap, but cool.
