My 1979 F250 has only leaf springs in the front but no coil springs. I have owned the truck several months and I am STILL finding parts on it from non-Ford trucks !
Anyway...Is it possible someone has removed the coil springs? Should I put some back? Sorry to be an idiot. I can do some motor stuff but its time to learn about supensions!
Also I will be carrying a 1500 lb slide-in camper and pulling about 4000 lb of horse and trailer 6 times a year about 50 miles round trip...other than that just empty. Can I just use some of those leaf spring boosters or do I need to spend the $700+ on air lift bags and controller?
Thanks ! I have had the chance to see a couple of F250's lately and they dont have coils either so your right ! lol.
The local suspension place has looked at the truck and they say the rear springs are badly sprung that maybe someone overloaded for a long time in the past...anyway they said fix that first and then see what the camper rides like before I do anything, that by itself may be enough for my load requirements. They are saying $600 - $700 for new springs with overload spring and installation.
Have a suspension shop build you a set of springs and put them on yourself. Ill bet you can do it for a couple hundred. An example, stock rear springs for a 97 chevy 3/4ton $100 per side. I had to go pick up a set for my uncle.
