ok guys lets see all your beafy front bumpers. homade, bought, ford, chevy dodge i dont care lets see them
This is not my truck, but I had one of these on my '96 F350. I can vouch for the strength from numerous deer I hit with it. And the pickup that was totalled after pulling out in front of me. Had some gouges out of the brushguard, but that was it.
This one came with the truck. All I'm going to do with it for now is drill a couple of holes in it, and install the license plate on it. It gets bent up where it's at now.

That is one impressive bumper!
I like how you have both Diesel and 4x4 emblems on the front of your truck!
Hey star, you have to post that pic of the bumper on the War Wagon!!!
I always had problems with dear running out in front of me. Especially when I drive my little car. I told myself after I bought this truck that I won't even slow down for dear. When I drive the truck, the dear run the other way. I only had one run out in front of me. Of course I slowed down a little for it, I couldn't bring myself to purposely kill and animal like that. I guess I'm getting older, 5 years ago I wouldn't hesitate.
Everyone with a big bumper - remember, your bumper is only as good as the frame it's attached to, which in case of these trucks ain't really all that strong. If you plan on mowing stuff down then beef your frame up as well, I personally have more faith in my bumper than in my frame so I used that to triangulate and brace up the frame to stiffen it up and make it more resistant to impacts.

If you hit the deer with the corner of your truck if the deer is big enough it will "roll" over your bumper and it may eff your fender up so bad it ain't funny You need to add hoops for the headlights, then you will be fairly decently protected.

That's what I worry about. Hopefully I can hit them dead on. But then again, like you say, the frame might not hold up. More then likely the bumper would get pushed up ripped off of it.
Both my front and rear bumpers are still on the a-stands at work were I am building them. They are made of 1/4" 8x8 tube. I will try to get pics as soon as i can get them finished up. We are working some overtime right now that I only have break time to work on them lol.
I was never in a wreck, but a got squished between two dozers good enough to break it off once. The only thing deer ever done, was it would get a little bumpy when one would get under the tires.
Here's the bumper I have waiting for my truck. It was on my 85 which had a body swap so it matches the 92-96 contours but bolts to the 85 frame horns. I need to fab new mounting brackets and I am gathering parts to beef up the front. I have all new poly bushings to install, but I need to get some AAL springs to support the extra weight. This bumper will pull the truck down out of alignment. I had it rhino lined last year as well.
This is how it looked on my 85 before the coating.
