85 f150 troubleshooting
I just bought an 85 f150 4x4 with a 351W HO and was hoping to get a little knowledge from some people about some problems with it. I picked it up for $800 bucks so its got a couple. The guy said it sat for a while and the carb definately needs a rebuild.
Problem 1: smoke coming from the valve cover, none out the exhaust. It's not a lot but enough to concern me. I have herd it could be faulty pcv valve or loose head bolts possibly bad valve guides. otherwise runs good no knocks or valve train noise.
Problem 2 and maybe 3: front tires tilted in at the top loose steering, pulls left. I would assume these are related. Ball joints? Tie rods? Bearings? U-joints? Makes kinda clunky noise when turning. I've seen alot of f150s like this and always wondered. It has that dana44 IF front axle i believe.
Anyway, any help would be really appreciated.
