I'm in the process of replacing my ball joints on my 1994 F150 4x4. I'm following the process shown at Bronco Ball Joint Replacement - Trucks 4x4 @ Off-Road.com. I've made it to trying to remove the spindle. I've got all of the nuts off, but the spindle won't budge as shown in Photo #10. I've hit it with a bfh and a block of wood on the spindle and soaked in with PBBlaster. I'll let it soak overnight and see if I can it off tomorrow evening. Will it do any harm if I heat it up with a torch if the overnight soak doesn't work? Any other tricks I can try?
I used the spindle remover with slide hammer and got it off in a few minutes. I don't think I would have got it off any other way. Once it began to move it still took some effort with the slide hammer. Then I had to use a cutting torch to get the nut off the lower ball joint. Guess that's one of the many benefits of living where they salt the roads!!
