Factory Subwoofer fit

Hi All,just bought a factory Subwoofer to go with my audiophile head unit I bought earlier,when I went to install it I found that the sub sat too high and the rear seat wouldn't go all the way back down.Does the rear seat have any recess in it to accommodate(spell)the sub?Do I have to remove any sound deadener to make it sit lower?any help or pictures would be appreciated,also looking for the subwoofer plug that goes into the back of the head unit.

Thanks

Terry

It should fit fine, the seat should come down. Try moving it around, the brackets get in the way sometimes. Be sure and point the speaker down, towards the carpet.

(part must be AAA, not AA)

I own a 2004 Screw XLT. How would I know if I could hook up a factory sub to my existing head unit.

zigsgt, just remove the head unit from your dash, (do a search of the archives for instructions, its easy to remove)

You should have one very small empty plugin. About 1 inch in size. If you have the plugin, you can add the factory sub using the part numbers and plugs above.

If you do not have the plugin, you can still add a factory sub, but you will need to do a speaker inline installation. Its a harder install, but any stereo shop can do it for you.

Just got my wiring to hook up my sub, now I have a new prob.all the wires that are on the plugs are black and no instruction were included as to figure out which wire does what,I don't want to hook it up wrong and cook something.I do have the orginal plug that came with the sub,it was in with all the paper that was around the sub for shipping.

You have to use the pin numbers that are on the wiring diagram. Try this:
Pin 3 HU -> Pin 9 Sub
Pin 1 HU -> Pin 7 Sub (Should be shielded)
Pin 2 HU -> Pin 8 Sub (Should be shielded)
Pin 4 HU -> Pin 1 Sub (Shield)

Hot at all times +12V -> Pins 5 & 6 Sub
Ground -> Pins 2 & 3 Sub

**FORD, F SERIES LIGHT DUTY, 2005, Factory Amp Turn-on. This is the subwoofer amplifier turn on lead. The subwoofer and amp are in the driver side rear corner of the cabin. The subwoofer speaker wires are brown/orange (+), and red/black (-) at the radio harness

Dark/green/Violet- sub amp enable
Black/orange - ground
Violet/light blue - voltage supplies at all times (overload protected)
Brown/orange - subwoofer signal +
Red/Black - subwoofer signal -
Black - shield

The part # on the sub is 4L3T-18C804-BB.I found it while checking on Ebay to see what was for sale,a guy was parting a 04 Lariat and ad said to email him if there was anything else that I might want,so I did and got the sub for $135 canadian delivered to my door.If you look at the back of your head unit and see a small plug about an inch square it's probably for the sub.
