I agree, when you buy from ebay its always a risk and unfortunately the seller is not a ebay store (just selling two sets of 8 glow plugs at $75 a set).

The GPs are reportedly in "sealed OEM packaging". I will check them when I received to confirm they are Motorcraft ZD9s but I priced them locally and they were double the price, so I will roll the dice and keep my faith in the ebay rating system. Thanks for the replys and I will post to the quality once the GPs are received.

Do whatever you want Josh, if you are dead set to buy from ebay and are willing to take the chance go ahead, you just have some people on here that want to make sure you dont get screwed and offer advice. In canada the ZD9's are about 14 a piece at my price. That includes all of the taxes and import fees from the states. Oh and that is from a ford dealer. So remove all of the tax and fees and you are at about 10.40 per GP. I can handle it because i know that i wont have any problems with their products and if i do they will make it right. Best luck bro!
I took it as a typo and she meant to say "instant failure" as in it would quit working as soon as you put it on and then you would have to turn right around and take it back off. I may be wrong though. It wouldn't be the first time lol

I thought you were saying I should take my advice on how to prevent infant failures, as in I should not have kids. So a misunderstanding there.

I bought my glow plugs off of ebay about a year ago and haven't had the first problem out of any of them. Our Ford dealer here charges $20 per glow plug. I have a friend that works in the parts department and he gives me all of my parts at cost, but he said he can't do it on glow plugs because they won't let him. Their cost on them is $4 per plug and they mark them up to $20. That is $160 for a complete set. I figure if I buy 8 off of ebay for $65 then I can have 3 or 4 go bad, replace them, and still come out ahead of what I would pay at the dealer.

I can't sign into ebay at work to see who I bought mine from, but I will check tonight and see. The ones I got came in a sealed motorcraft bag just like the ones from the dealer. Same part number, same product, same packaging, but 1/3 the price. I checked the feedback on the guy I bought them from and he had something like 99.9% positives and about 500 of them were from 7.3 glow plugs. He also had a 60 day warranty on them too. I wouldn't have bought them if it was just some random guy selling one set "as is" or something like that.

Off topic, but are 7.3 IDI and 7.3 PSD glow plugs the same?
Josh talking about buying them for his 7.3 PSD made me think of that.

No 1 The PSD GPs are about twice as long. The working end is the same size, but the threaded body is longer.

By the way, it was not a typo. I meant verify that the GP works without failing before you install it. I'm conservative with my efforts and don't enjoy doing things twice. A little effort up front can save a lot later. In my case I prove that the GP is temperature limiting before I install it. I worked for a major OEM and I know that things don't always get made the way they are supposed to be made.

Look at TOYOTA, I guarrantee that they didn't intend to have their vehicles take off on their own!

Put the ebay bought Motorcraft glow plugs in this weekend, no problem, took out a few autolites, so I am glad I did the swap. WTS light is on 14 seconds now as opposited to the 9-10 previously. This seem right to you guys??

I love this Forum. It gives me a lot of confidence in the IDIs.

I've heard several cases where the GPs failure within the first few starts. Hence 'infant failure'. For the amount of time it takes to heat the GPs, it's cheap insurance.
