starter problems

My starters makin a funny noise, hard to describe, its almost like a buzzing i guess? like its spinning just not catching anything. I replaced the starter and the new one does the same thing. Anyone know what it might be? solenoid maybe? Thanks

If it's turning, then the solenoid is not the problem. It sounds like the teeth aren't making with the ring gear.

Its not uncommon to get bad starters My neighbors put 2 on his truck 2nd one worked.He bought them from Auto Zone.

well i know its good i tested it, and any idea what would cause it to not engage?
