so i was taking the filter post out of my filter housing to disconect the heater cause it was junk and when i put it back together i snaped the top off of the post. i notciced theres a spring in it and dont no if it has much importance and am wondering if its really worth replacing cause it cost 75 bucks.
Don't know much about the internals of the fuel bowl other than a bad fuel heater left me sitting for a while until I could get another maxi fuse and gt the heater unplugged. Then I was good to go.
I hope someone answers your question, because I want to remove my heater as well and clean some serious crud out of the bottom of my bowl.
kal its not a big deal to clean it and unhook the heater but just becareful when you tighten that plastic post back up. its left hand threads and apparently only has to be hand tight.
The water separator stand pipe is there to make sure water stays in the bottom of the bowl and the small slits are to help ensure that trash can not get in there. The spring load is to ensure that there is some back pressure on the fuel pump and also helps prevent some debris funneling into the stand pipe to dischrage to the fpr filter mesh screen and on into the fpr. The filter is self does not depress the spring slide of the coalescer stand pipe the pumps discharge pressure does.
