My name is Michael Wright, just like what it says in the profile, nothing to hide here, anyone that wants to find me, they can find me easily. I'm a big boy, and I think I can handle myself, lol. But on second thought, I don't feel threatened by people, I usually get along with most everyone I meet.

Hmm.
Yes, it was given to me by my parents, Hermina and Wilberfors Fonebone

I think using your real name online is foolish, unless you personally know the single recipient on the other end. To post your real name to a bunch of strangers is inviting trouble, IMO.

I wouldn't even think of using my real name on the web. And although, I feel that this forum has alot of great people , anyone can get on and read it- which could lead to potential problems. I have nothing to hide nor am I scared of anyone, but a past incident has made me alot more cautious and the effects it had on other people. I once posted on a website asking information for my step child to use for a school paper- just a staistic no arguement and not any sensitive matter. Because, my email address at the time had my last name and server was the name of my town and state- well some freak began calling my parents (because they assumed it was me) who are elderly in the middle of the night saying real sick perverted things and that they were going to kill them, etc., that went on for six months or so ,never could catch them, may I add I continued to get emails daily including death threats , and of course the perverse. Anyway, the ramifications do not always include just what they are going to do to you. Before this freak started harrassing my parents , he was smart enough to cal them and pretend that he wanted to look me up, was an old friend, and got my girlfriends number- and when he began his harrassing-he also called her, her children, and did the same to them as my parents. Let's just say he include the sickest things you can think up and you could bank on him calling in the middle of the night. So, although It never frightened me I really didn't appreciate the effects it had on all my loved ones. Simply because I wanted to know a statistic like how many men served from Virginia during the Civil war. There are some real freaks in this world and I hate to say it but every forum or chat has trollers or flamers - who don't wantto do anything but cause trouble and invoke and arguement. I definitely would not recommend using your real name - just think of the effects it could have on your loved ones. The frustrations alone of waking to a phone call in the middle of the night is enough and don't think the law will do alot to someone doing this either. That real freak at work or down the street probbaly has a computer, no life and a sick sence of humor....

I dont have a problem giving my real name to people, doesent bug me at all if they ask or I feel comfortable doing so. I dont see a real reason to give a full name since it doesent matter too much since were all words without faces here.

Clinton/Clint AKA SSCX2.

My name is Bob Harford. When I joined, I didn't realize the user name would be displayed or I would have used it. Trike is what I am building. I like motorcycles almost as much as Fords. I have a Harley, but I also am getting arthritis, and I will not stop riding because of it. So if or when it gets bad, I will have three wheels to get in the wind. 1946 is the year I was born.

No, that's not my real name. I needed some info on my transmission and I figured that there were some knowledgeable noggins on the fte site so I decided to register and ask the questions.

I chose Cupcake first as a psychological experiment and second as a counter to the many suspiciously compensatory macho sounding names like Elefantballs, Sausagemeat, HanginSoLowIgottaStrappitToASk8Brd. As far as I know, these haven't been taken yet so if you need a confidence boost, be my guest.

Ironically, my theory that most participants would be reluctant to reply to "Cupcake" was validated by the psych experiment but I never got the transmission info that I needed.

The main theme behind this thread was to also find out if or why not people sign their posts with ONLY their first name ,instead of eaving it un-signed or signing with their user name.

Personally,I like to see people sign with just their first name.

Especially when the user has a 15 digit user name like, F2504x4SCLB4604
.

I like to see the persons name after all the other text

fish name

I fish, therefore I am the "baitmaster". I thought about reversing in for my boat moniker, but "master baiter" was a bit too much my wife said.
