I have a 2005 F250 PSD. I have been tripping the number 33 fuse consistently. When it pops the glow plugs no longer light, the wipers stop completely and some of the accessories temporarily become unavailable (Stereo, windows, fuel gauge) but these accessories will come back online after ~20 seconds. The trip occurred originally when it was raining but at this point, it will trip even when it is completely dry. I had originally thought maybe there was a water leak somewhere that was causing the trip but have been unable to find any evidence of this.
I have replaced the fuse several times with no luck. As soon as I replace it and turn the key(either way) it will pop. I have in a few instances replaced it and it would work for a while, but eventually fail within 20 minutes.
I have checked and cleaned the connections from the glow plug wiring harness to the glow plugs thinking one of them was grounding out, but this did not resolve the problem either.
Do any of you have ideas on what the problem may be here?
i'm not familiar with ford wiring, but if you can find the splice point on the work side of the fuse and remove one wire at a time this may help you pinpoint he circut thats causing the problem.(divide and conquer). ie removed the wire from the splice point for the wipers/replace the fuse see what happens. if you have an ohm meter ck the circut for a direct ground. hope this helps
I wanted to give an update on where I stand with this and see if it makes sense to any of you.
My truck has been in and out of the shop a few more times. The shop had decided that it was probably some loose connections on the back of my fuse box which seemed to be getting hot. They went ahead and cleaned those up and re-soldered the connections on. The truck ran for about 40 minutes after I picked it up, then popped the fuse again.
Over the weekend I noticed that my truck was getting harder and harder to start. I decided to take it into the local parts house and check the batteries. I found that one battery was bad and the other needed to be charged. While I had the batteries out, I decided to change the fuse again to see if anything would change. I replaced the bad battery and charged the one they say is still good. I have since been running for 3 days without popping the fuse.
Is it possible that the bad battery was somehow shorting out that fuse? I am not much on electrical so thought I would throw it out to you all to see what you thought.
