I've searched hours for someone else having this problem, but I couldn't find anyone.
I have a 2002 f350 PSD. I drove it around all day yesterday and it was fine. I filled up the tank, drove home(20 miles) and parked it. When I got in this morning it started right up, ran like it was supposed to, then died after 10 seconds. It didn't sputter, it just died like I had turned the key off. I tried to start it multiple times and I actually got it to run for 2 or 3 minutes, but then it went back to only running for a couple of seconds.
Now I'm not a mechaninc, but I'm pretty sure it's the cam shaft sensor. The only conditions that changed was that it started raining cats and dogs at some point last night and continued most of the day. I would appreciate any help.

Well I'd vote for that also. You may get lucky if the recall hasn't been done on it yet, Ford has a recall for the CPS', that way it would be free.
Have you noticed in the past as you were starting the truck if your tach moved? How about now, does it move while cranking the engine. That's a good indicator of CPS failure if it use to move, and now doesn't. May also want to check for signs of water under you dash between the brake pedal and service brake pedal area. Another known problem, leaking windshields around the base, allowing water to seep into the cab, behind the dash and get important stuff wet (like the PCM and GEM) This could also cause what your describing, along with other usual symptoms. Do all your dash lights illuminate as usual? Hope that's a start, we'll get it running.
My tach moves for the 5 seconds the truck will run, and it definitely smeels like somthing got wet inside the cab. I hadn't gotten back in the truck in several hours and just opened the door. It smelled like something had died in there, so maybe something behind the dash got wet.
The tach won't move on an 02 until the engine has started. The CPS swap is a cheap and easy check. It's a good idea to have a spare one anyway, just be sure to get it from Ford or International. Too many problems with the ones from the local parts stores, including causing the truck to stall when the windshield wipers are turned on.
If you've got a leak in the cab, remove the 4 bolts holding the fuse panel in under the steering wheel and look for any signs of moisture on the back of the panel.
