On the way to work this morning the following happened...
On the highway, cruise set at 60ish. All of a sudden the dash lit up like a Christmas Tree (WTS, SES, Battery, etc lights) and no power. After 5 seconds or so, all the dash lights went back to normal and power returned to normal and was able to drive 55 no problems and the transmission seemed to be in 4th (looking at RPMs, around 1500) Now the overdrive light was flashing, didn't try to reset the Cruise just drove the remaining 5 miles to work. Needed to make a left turn into the parking lot and the truck died when I made the turn and now no start. Got pulled into the lot by a Chevy (at least it was dark and no one saw)The trans temp gauge was reading about 120, not pulling a load and is was about 50 degrees outside.

Nope.. I got this one.. and I believe you are only the second person with this.. I was the first.. CHECK # 30 fuse.. IT is the fuel bowl heater and PCM fuse..
I'll check the fuse, on the battery suggestion, just replace both batteries last week because it wouldn't start. (Been runnning like a champ since then)
Just thought about something else when this happened this morning. I could give it gas and the tach was moving and the engine was running, but no power to the ground.
Does this change/make up anyone's mind on the problem?
Under the dash..you will need to disconnect your fuel bowl heater before replacing the fuse, if the fuse is indeed blown ( I am really sure that it is because of the no start and the OD light blinking ).
It won't start, just tries to turn over. Batteries are strong. DOn't remember is I have a WTS light or not. Kind of frustrated this morning, wasn't looking or thinkling real clear since I was Pi$$ed off.
Finally quit raining (it's not supposed to rain in Southern Arizona)
Went out to the truck and checked fuse #30, looked good
So I thought what the heck, put the key in, got the WTS light, and the beast started right up. and no overdrive light either.
Any ideas of things to check for now? Or was it just a gremlin?
Thanks
There should still be some stored codes in your PCM. Do you have any way to pull the codes? Are you planning on making your way up to Phoenix soon? If so, give me a PM and I'll pull the codes for you. Does the truck run and drive good?
Wild stab in the dark here.....I noticed you have a remote start feature. Is there any chance that system is involved? (Not sure how those work exactly....)
Second wild stab.....you said you were using the cruise control. I wonder if your brake switch is shorting out. There is a recall out there for this switch. Normally I would suggest that you try using the cruise control and see if the issue repeats but if you do have an issue, then it might be too risky to try. Check out the Sticky on the recall and see if anything rings a bell regarding your issue.
