Question long or short blocks

Anyone have links to places that have 4.0 ohv engines. Mine is losing oil pressure but at 300K I guess its understandable. OP sits on the N in normal even at RPM. I have changed the sender but have not hooked up a direct read guage.

found a couple that want anywhere from $1700-2000 for longblocks, I think 1 was autozone (3yr 50000miles $1700, the other was a reman for $1900 with 12/12000 warranty).

So if there are any good links to places please advise. I am not burning any oil so I am guessing if these engines are like the 3.0 I had when overseas the weak point was the cam bearing is this true?

If it doesn't burn oil, doesn't knock, and gets the same gas mileage it got before, then you likely can ignore what the gauge says. Most later model [later than mine..] Rangers that have gauges have a resistor that makes the gauge display in the middle of its travel. The 'sending unit' is just a on-off switch that closes at 5psi. If the pressure was lower, the gauge would read 0. Higher, and the gauge still reads in the middle.
Check with a mechanical gauge before condemning your engine.
My theory on vehicles is that repair payments are less than car payments. Period. If you like your truck, and don't want something newer particularly, then repair or replacement of the engine is a perfectly fine option. Others may argue differently.
I can't comment with any knowledge on any re-manufacturer specifically. I would try to find a local firm that does re-builds, rather than some of the bigger, nationally advertised names. You might find a machine shop that can do your engine if you can afford the down time for them to do the work. Likely would be less expensive than a store-bought long block.
