Rusty 63 Vin Code - ND to the rescue?
Digging through a box of parts that we took off the truck in the 90s (emblems, etc) I found the badge that ought to say "100" for the f100 I think my truck is - the red plastic reads "250"! Of course this thing was a patchwork quilt of parts when we got it, so it may not be orginial, but all the same I thought I'd ask for help.
Now the tags on the truck are worn (sanded?) down nearly smooth (multiple repaints) so I took a rubbing on it. That means I've got no idea what number means what. Here's what it looks like:
F10JE431697
114 F10 81A A 12
4800 114 3600 830417
Can anyone tell me what all of this means?
Thanks!!!!

830417:
83 = Purchased by the US Government.
0417 = Domestic Special Order number, which most likely applies to the following:
The COLOR code is missing. It would have been in between the W.B. (wheelbase) and the MODEL code of F10.
No COLOR code means the truck was painted in a non standard color for (in this case) whatever US Government Agency (example: Department of Defense [USA/USAF/USCG/USMC/USN]) the truck was purchased for.
Look under the seat as most ppl do not repaint this area. The paint doesn't fade, because its hidden from direct sunlight. So...it's a good place to discover what the original color was.
Too bad this kid was one of those fools who pulled the seat to repaint the interior! ;o)
I actually found olive drab on the cowl section behind the front fenders and on the back of the cab. Which fits the story to a t.
Thanks so much!!!
