I drove my '93 F150 a bit during the bad weather this winter. It was
driving fine and then I parked it for a few days. The next time I tried to get in it wouldnt engage the transmission. If I shifted I would see the RPMs raise a bit and then settle but no engage.
I pulled the codes and get a 636, Oil Temperature out of range. Would this prevent my tranny from engaging? The weather has warmed up the last few days and I was hoping that would unfreeze a sensor or something lucky would happen. Also when its running it grinds when I try putting it back in park...bad news I can already tell.
No. This sensor measures temp only. Check your T case and make sure it is engaged properly. If you have the pushbutton(i am assuming) play with the buttons and eliminate that as an issue. All I can say is you don't want to pay for a rebuild.............................
And its manual lockouts with a good ol' fashion floor shifter for 4x4. I have been noticing some slop in in the shifter so I will crawl under there with some vice grips and make sure the tcase is engaged though. I know when I parked it though it was in 4hi.
