Homeskillet, take the guts out of the cat, Put a new flowmaster on, and add a K&N Filter. That should help out a bit. I have no cat and my truck passes every year. I also bumped my timing to 12 deg. but I have the 460, dont know how that would work on the 302.

Don't waste your money on KN, CAI, thottle body spacers or chips.
You can advance the timing a little, run the I6/460 snorkle/tube witht the factory air box and a good filter.
Straight through muffler FTW. I still like the sound of the straight pipe after the stock cats. It sounds good.
