so i made the zoodad mod hole a little larger then thought, this Grille looks tired what with all the faded silver paint , so
i took it all apart , on the kitchen sides , much to the wifes pleasure, and painted all the inserts flat black. took about 3 hours from start to finish , am quite pleased with the result. will be painting the front bumper plastic black to match soon.
not got it back on yet as its pi$$ing it down outside now , but hopefully you get an idea.
thinking of fitting my driving lights behind the grille as i have no push bar, has anyone done this , did it make the engine run hotter ?
its now sitting on my dinning room table , again to the delight of my wife.
cool pic Stewart , was outside early this morning , drilled holes for lights , ran the wiring all through for them, tested , aligned , tightened all bolts up. easy job, all took about 1.5 hrs
went to put the grill back on , and the lights still dont fit behind it. Its because i forgot about the Chrome grille thats been bolted onto the old grille , its all the fixings that get in the way,so all took back off in about 5 mins
got to say its my own fault , i bought them whilst they were on sale in walmart about 2 years ago , i thought they looked pretty deep at the time.
looks like i'm waiting for a new light bar now , unless i can find some more driving lights that will fit and are not 5 inches deep.
Dont Forget to check local laws on Lights...For example here in michigan, Off road lights must be have covers, and only allowed 1 set (2) of fog lights. Also some states say you may only have amber besides factory equipment. Not sure of the thought on that, but still should check to avoid hassles....Love the look, except it wont work as nice on my '05 with the cross member grille.
I think they have come out much nicer , i could not work out why all the plastic parts on the Ex were Black , but the front end was Grey.
least its color coded now if nothing else
before
after
i quite like this photo , the way the Mini looks so small across the street.
Haha... my Dad & I did that back when I was in high school. Rebuilt a C6 in the house because we had a how-to video and there wasn't a VCR in the garage
Worked out great though. Laid down trash bags all over the table and kept everything (especially the trans parts) clean during the whole process.
Wait til you start powdercoating anything that fits in the kitchen oven.. She'll really love that. You will too. It works great!!
Lookin good man!!
The other forum that I spend time on is arboristsite.com as I cut trees for a living. Some of the guys on there use the dishwasher to clean chainsaws parts for saws that they are rebuilding. I tried that once and the wife wasn't too happy with that.
