many many questions.......
im new here, so i hope im posting this in the preferred area....
i just picked up a "what i believe to be" fantastic example of classic ford beauty.
she's a '93 markIII custom f150 short bed standard.....
i fell in love with this year/model 17 years ago and never had the money when the chance presented itself......over the years i just plain forgot about them and moved on to other things.....
a couple of days ago i came across this truck and stopped in to ask about it, and sure enough, i drove her home today

literally picked her up from the inspection station this afternoon, and ive been grins from ear to ear ever since......
a couple of questions i have (i have a lot of them, but will keep it short to start off with.......
the power sliding rear window- it acts like it wants to work, but wont move more then 1/16th of an inch or so, and then i just get clicking coming from down near the motor behind the seat......anyone ever fix one, or know what i might need to fix it ??
bed cover- as you can see from the pics, she has bed rails, but also snaps for a bed cover, was that an option from markIII thats missing now ??
i have the original window sticker, and also the markIII window sticker, all the numbers match so i know exactly what she came with off the lot when new, i dont see any mention of a cover, so im assuming it came after the fact....
im assuming dual tanks was a markIII signature item, ive never seen a short bed standard cab come with dual tanks, but the tanks are on the ford window sticker.....was that common back in those days ??
glad to find the forums here, as soon as i can swing it i will become a supporting member.......hope to pick a lot of brains around here !!
last question for this post- did they have an option for CD player on these trucks?....it has the premium am/fm/cassette in it now....i havent seen a cassette in almost as long as since ive seen one of these trucks !
and now for some pics......remember, she is 17 years old, and from what i can tell never touched except for maybe the missing bed cover......

she needs a good bath !!

you can see the snaps here

thats a lot of red !!

just like a good woman, gotta love those curves
From what I remember the factory CD wasn't available unitl 94 or 95.
If your rear window is a power slider that is cool. There werent very many that had that. Check the track for debris or other blockage to prevent it from sliding back.
The dual tanks was a factory Ford option and is common. I like having dual tanks. If a fuel pump goes out you still have the other one to get home.
The Mark conversions had alot of different options. I doubt that the bed rails and the snap on bed cover were both part of the package. Someone added one or the other.
There slim bug gaurd is cool. I finally found a similar one for my truck. Since my truck is black its almost invisilble like yours is. I hate those big bull dozer looking ones.
Since it is a new vehicle to you and you don't necessarily know its maintanance history, I would go through and give it fresh fluids and filters and maybe even a tune up. How many miles are on it?
sweetdo you know if the '94/5 head unit will fit in my single din dash opening, ide love CD, but want to keep it as stock as possible...
yep, its a power slider brand, i actually found a rebuild kit for the gears and gear tape for 54 bucks.......through amazon.com of all places ????????, lol
yep again, the mark window sticker shows paint code for bed rails....no mention of a cover....
i too like the idea of dual tanks, never thought about the fuel pump thing though....i just always liked the idea of getting 700 miles between fill ups... lol, highway of course!
funny you mention the bug guard, ive actually taken them off of trucks in the past cause i just couldnt stand the big size....your right, this one i have now is sweet, and you barely notice it....
im collecting the materials for a complete tune up as we speak, i just love tinkering, and this truck is the perfect balance of needs TLC and great shape for me to really enjoy bringing her back to former glory....
