Hello all, I have a 1999 f350 SD i have been experiencing electric issues, down to my last couple...parking lights stay on, also key in ign, buzzer beeps even with key out, radio dosn't work and when i pull the fuse I go to put it back in i hear a buzzing and the brake light will come on briefly and then the buzz stops, at this point i have the whole dash off so i have plenty of room, i get the feeling it is something in the fuse block...any help would br appriciated.....very basic model no power windos seats, any of that stuff
Some of the 99's had issues with a leaking windshield. It would drip a small amount of water on the back of the fuse block under the steering wheel. I'd pull the fuse block and take a close look at it for any signs of corrosion.
any tricks to getting that out i got the dash off just can't seem to get it out to have a good look at it
The fuse box is held in by 2 bolts and two nuts. Disconnect battery cable first. Two big bundles going into the box held on by a bolt in the center of them. Loosen the bolt and the bundle should come off little by little by the removal of the bolt. After the bundles are off take the screws and nuts off and you can wiggle it out. It is a bummer the first time out but I've had mine out 3 or 4 times and it gets really easy after you have done it a few times.
Turned out my problem was a loose fuse holder in the box, I had to bend the ends of the fuse just a little bit and everything started working correctly. I even bought a new gem so if you have a 2wd truck and need a gem I have one, never installed. I ended up fixing it before the gem made it to the house.
thanks for the info...got out had alot of crap and dust in it thought that was it blew it all out put it back in no change im gonna pull it againg and check for loose fuse recepts...thanks again...i may need a new gem...4wd though
jbustoff how did it work out? I am having the same problem with mine. buzzer is killing the battery going to take the fuse box out tomorrow and check everything.
