Hi eveyone. Went out to start my truck today and found that the tach wasnt working correctly and engine wasn't pulling. Opened hood and found a squirrel's nest by the firewall connection on the driver's side. Cleared the nest out and found the harness had been chewed up. Went to the ford house, no harness, painless wiring- no harness, and Gale Banks- no harness. Does anyone know where to get one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the website on the connectors, may end up chopping and repairing the harness if i cant find one. Yall are probably right about the junk yards, but i hate trying to find a wiring harness thats been under a hood for 18 years.
What I meant by that is usually after years the insulation on the wiring starts becoming dried and brittle, especially on wiring that is in the engine compartment. So when you go moving it around, you take the chance of insulation coming loose or off.
I would see if you can get just the bulkhead connector if that is what you need. If you are confident in your soldering abilities and comfortable doing so I would splice in just that end of the harness and leave the rest of yours alone. This is provided that your current harness didn't have any issues. It might not be a bad idea to get the whole harness and still splice it in as it sure is nice to have spare connectors.
I appreciate the help. I have had no luck finding a new harness, but may have found a good used complete harness. Other than what is chewed up, the rest of the harness is in good shape. So, depending on the condition of the other harness, I might end up using the other harness to make a pigtail like you said and solder it in. If the other harness is in great condition, I will replace the whole thing.
Already started eyeballing a new pellet rifle. Can you say massacre. Just kidding. Actually it is a total of five. I opened the hood and the mother jumped out and I found 4 babies. Got them all out, and let them go before I seen the wiring chewed up. Probably was a good thing I seen the wiring later or I don't know what would have happened. LOL
