Going Back In

Well I cant take the smoke anymore so I made the appointment and the awesome guys at my dealer said to bring er in so we can fix it. I asked them about the DashDaq and the SA said that shouldnt be a problem, they just want to see lit on it.

I asked them if it needed HG's if they would install studs for me, the SA told me he would...but not to jump to conclusions. Also asked them to check the PH of the coolant while they had it and flush it if nec.

The first question he asked was if the truck ever had an oil/egr cooler, I told him no, so he said they will flush the coolant if it needs to be replaced, and ofcourse I asked about the reflash, he said they would do that for me too.

I love my dealer they are great, I will miss the truck though, may have to wash it before it goes in.

I will keep everyone posted on whats going on with it, gotta get it fixed cause boatin season is right around the corner.

Ohh your not kidding. I am fortunate enough to have 2 other trucks, but I love this one the most. Its nice to know the guys working on it care as much as the owner does.

well, at least you've got back up... i'm without mine, but only until tomorrow. if this tech is any good, and he seems like he should be, then i've found myself a service department. they got me in TODAY for diagnostic, and he started working on her before i even LEFT. i like it...

Know the feeling. I had to leave mine two weeks ago for a week, at a dealer 125 miles away. Even though I only drive my truck mostly on the weekends, I couldnt stand not seeing it in my driveway!

Thanks,

Yes they always take good care of me. I am hoping but not really that it needs head gaskets, only cause my warranty is up in Novemeber, but I have a ESP for a few more years past that.

that's the one thing i didn't have.... my original warranty expired in sept with just over 90k, and i took her in this week with something like 100,700 miles. i just didn't have cash, or gumption, to spend the extra on 2 more years and i'd get less than half the miles out of it, most likely.

Well heres an update on the truck folks. I have ben really sick this last week, and I just got the strenght to leave my bed and go pick up the ruck tonight. I talked with the SA today, he says all went well, maybe some residule smoke from left over crap in the intake.

I drove the truck home about 15-20 miles, didnt beat it up just drove her the way I always do. For the first 5 miles or so all was good, as the ruck started warming up the smoke reared it ugly head again while idling at a light. I pull away and the smoke clears up. It doesnt seem as bad as it was before, but its still there.

I am sure that there is some crud in the intake, not sure how much, I ws gonna pull the EGR valve out of it when I got it home but its cold, Im sick, and I forgot that I need to remove the larger intake elbow. I have a new EGR valve, I ws gonna put it in cause the one on the truck is original, and with the amout of coolant and stuff that has gone through it I thought maybe it would help some.

I was gonna take it on about a 2 hou trip on Sunday to go look at some boats with the Wifey, my question is how long would it take if there was crap in the intake to get to the point where the truck stops smoking.

Is it safe to say that if it doenst stop after the trip I still have issues? I think I already know the answer to that question.

Here is what they did: Replaced leaking EGR and Oil Coolers, Resealed HPOP cover, flushed cooling system with PM2 and VC9, and replaced leaking exhaust manifold gaskets.

I am totally happy with the service and the way I was treated, my fear is I still have an issue, I am hoping Cheezit chimes in here.

Also what is the latest flash version, and will this maybe cure some of my smoking issues. My flash is currently VXCF7H3. I asked for a reflash, but I thought the newest one was a VXCF9?

Thanks and I will keep on updating this as the smoke continues or goes away.

Sarge (Sorry for the long winded post but I am happy to be out of bed)

my 06 flash is vxcf9h7.
so far as the smoke goes. some soke is normal under heavy excell. some is normal at engine startup. other then then you really should not be smoking going down the road.
what color is the smoke?

I am glad you have a dealer willing to do the work needed for you , my question is why will some dealers seem more than willing to do the work while others say they would get in big trouble just doing the smallest job not approved by Ford. Seems like if this was true none would be willing to hang themselves out for doing unapproved work or mods.

Probably because at the current time they see it as an unecessary repair, but since you have to pull the engine to fix the bedplate leak, I don't see why they didn't just take your money and do it.

The way we see things and the way the dealer sees things are almost opposite sometimes...
