I know ND will know this question but I want to confirm before buying. I have a 67 F100 I've had for about 10 years now and has had a small crack in the windshield and has gradually gotten bigger. It's now made into the middle of the window and I don't want to get a ticket for it so it needs to be changed. I've found a mid 70's truck that has the windshield in it. Does the 73 to 79 windshield fit our trucks? All the junk yards around have crushed all their early models even stuff into the 80's. One guy just got this 70's truck in and it's already been rapped. I checked LMC and both part numbers are the same but don't want to buy it just from this info. Thanks in advance for the info.

I love this site, I was a member here years ago but couldn't remember my log in info so I recently in the last couple months rejoined. I learned a lot over the years here. So thanks to the owner and all the guys that post info here. It really helps a lot of us wanna be shade tree mechanics...
Keith, Order a new gasket from Dennis Carpenter with or without molding, and check out a local glass shop for a cash price on a new windshield. The gasket is a must, and you might get a new glass installed for a couple hundred bucks.
The glass is not very expensive, and I would suggest to go with new.
NAGS number: W819 / NAGS = National Auto Glass Society - NAGS numbers are what autoglass shops use.
While Ford didn't offer it, there's also a Sun Band w/shield available.
A Sun Band is a tinted w/shield with extra tint across the top.
Fits: 1967/77 F100/750 // 1978/79 F100/350 // 1978/79 Bronco.

The 1967/72 windshield weatherstrip is not the same as 1973/79. The difference is in the four corners.
C7TZ8103110A .. Windshield Weatherstrip / Use without windshield mouldings (Regular Cab).
C7TZ8103110B .. Windshield Gasket / Use with windshield mouldings (Custom Cab/Ranger).
I pulled the windshield out of a 78 and put it in my 68. It was the right size and shape, but the glass was thinner... break out the silicone. I don't know if it was just the later trucks that used thinner glass, this is just what I ran into.
Newer windshields are thinner. I remember the one in my 69 F250 was really thick, but starting to delaminate and get white around the edges. I hit a socket that got kicked up on the highway, and it only chipped it. I had a rock go clean through the thinner aftermarket windshield in my 72 F100.
I appreciate the info guys. I don't have the extra $$$ to get a new one but I did find one and only one at the junk yard for $50.00. So if I can get the cash I'll probably grab it. If not I'll have to wait on the cash and get a new one...
ive got my dennis carpenter gasket sitting here in the box in my closet waiting for me. i went to a glass shop near me and they had one that was tinted and shaded. (like bill described) for 100 bucks. problem is it was razor thin, and they claimed over the phone it was ppg. but it said pgw made in china on it. so i did not buy it. i either want top of the line carlite or i dont want one at all.
