Time for a tranny.

ok i know ive asked this a few times but i need to get a tranny before i go to school. I really want a Bts but i cant afford one right now. What are my options? There is no one around where i live that is any good or knows wat they are doing with diesel trannys. so im going to have to buy one from someone. Where are some places that you all have delt with that are good with trannys? And what do i need? i would like to find a tranns for around $2,500 or less if they are more then that i might as well get a Bts. I have a 2000 f350 4 door short bed, BB turbo, 4"exhaust, 140hp chip. capable of up to 40 psi of boost. i dont tow much with it but when i do i tow 10,000-30,000 pounds.

I would not waste your money on any local trans builders, i have seen it soo many times on these boards where someone went and got a "Built" trans from a reputable local builder for $2500 or so and before u know it, they are putting a BTS in their truck and kickin themselves in the butt for not doing it right the first time. BTS is just down the road from you, go with them, u wont be disappointed and Brian will take very good care of u.

ya lol thats some towing. thats normally during hay season hauling round bales on a gooseneck flatbed trailer. and im not goin to waste my money on a local trans builder i was just wondering if you all knew of any good places to get a rebuilt trans for around $2-2,500. i really would like to just put a bts in and be done but i leave for wyotech in laramie wyoming in june and idk how long its goin to take to find a job. ive already got about $600 a month in payments between my pickup and semi and im only working one job right now.i was working two jobs working one during the week and one on the weekends and everything was alright now im just working on the weekends and money is kinda tight.

With that kind of towing I would not mess around with anything other than a tranny you know is going to hold up, BTS or John Woods. Check for personal loan or credit card and make payments. Unless of course your debt is too high already. But I would find a way to do it if I was you. Don't do it twice. $2500 plus $2500 is still $5000. BTS is under $4000 I would be worried about a $2500 trans going south again. Just my .02.

If you plan on keeping your truck, another vote for a BTS. Times are tough, no doubt but it will be the last trans you'll ever need, good luck..

Also, after 2 yrs, he will still fix your trans for the same price. Nothing. You just have to pay shipping. And you will break that trans again if you keep it long enough. You just don't have to pay for the fix.
