Has anyone bought a truck by using MSN Money Central then the truck is shipped to you for your inspection and if all is as it should be the funds are released to the seller? If so did it work okay or are there pitfalls to be aware of. I'm nervious about this type of transaction but probably not as nervious as buying an '08 250. Yikes!
Thanks for the welcome. So far this transaction is working well and I'm at piece with the financial transaction via msn money. The program seems to favor the buyer but provides the seller with the funds in an escrow account. I'll let y'all know if it all goes down the tubes.
Usually the "Send the money and I'll ship the truck" are scams. Even with escrow accounts. Personally I wouldn't of done squat. Maybe there is an FTE member in the sellers area that can go check the truck out for you. Better than hoping you get what they say they are sending. And it doesn't take alot to be listed as a "Favored seller" on MSN.

The truck is in Mohall, ND, which is on the Candian border. Didn't think to see if there was anyone in this forum up there however I'll list the transaction process and see if it doesn't make sense for both parties. The way it is set up I'll have time to take it for an inspection, see if it passes emissions, and drive it around on the roads I typically drive before I accept it.
How to complete a secure transaction through MSN Money?

MSN Money acts as a secure third party to protect the Buyer and Seller.
How Buyers are protected:
MSN Money tracks the shipped merchandise and verifies it was delivered. The Seller isn't paid until the Buyer accepts the merchandise, or the inspection period expires.
How Sellers are protected:
MSN Money confirms when the Buyer receives merchandise. The Seller is authorized to ship only after MSN Money verifies good funds
I definately would not do it. Its too easy to get burned. I went to msn , and did a search for msn money central and it could not find it on its own search engine. Without ebay to back you up, just travel there in person. There is no other way. ABSOLUTELY A SCAM 100 %!!!!!!!!!.
I don't see where it says 7 days from what.... When the payment is verified, from the date of shipping or from date of receiving. I don't know. I would pass unless someone on here can verify it is legit. Honestly, it sounds fishy to me. Do you have a link to the ad? And what if you find something wrong with it? Who pays return shipping?
Tell the seller that you are going to be in the area, and would like to see the vehicle while you are in town. I suspect that there will suddenly be some reason that the seller can not (will not) show it to you.
There you go. It is a scam. That in itself should tell you to RUN!
If you ever find a vehicle that is in another location too far for you to go check it out personally, just get on here and see if anyone from the sellers area will go check it out for you. We watch out for each other here. Alot of us have already done this for quite a few members.
I checked out a truck one time that was advertised only 2 hours from me. I emailed the person to set up a time. They replied that the truck was in Atlanta, and that I would have to travel there to see it. At that point, I knew it was a scam.
